Dream a Little Dream

Happy Monday! The glorious sunshine continues here in London - it's almost too good to be true. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Today, I am taking part in Rebecca Emin's online launch party for When Dreams Come True. Rebecca asked us all to share our nightly dreams.

I'm not sure mine make very interesting reading, because - as Mr TR pointed out - nothing bad ever happens in them! I might be on the cusp of crashing, drowning, or any other random horror, but somehow I always seem to find my way out. Thank goodness, because as a very light sleeper, I have a lot of dreams, and I usually remember them all.

One recurring dream I have is that of drowning. I'm on a boat crossing rocky waters. The boat rocks perilously before overturning, and I flounder in the ocean. But - you guessed it! - I somehow kick my way to the surface and I'm saved!

Guess my subconscious is determined not to let me succumb to nightmares.

Do you dream? If so, any horrifying scenarios to share?

Congrats to Rebecca on her launch day!

  1. Ah, the weather is turning here already. It rained a little yesterday, and we're expecting more later. I think it's my own fault - I bought sandals on Saturday lol!

Dreams fascinate me. Quite often, I can't remember my dreams until something happens during the day that reminds me!

  2. I only remember my dreams when I wake up then they're gone forever to the dark recesses of my mind.

  3. Trying to hold on to dreams ( when they seem to signify something important)is like trying to catch smoke. They just disappear from the conscious mind!

  4. Thanks for joining in with the launch party, Talli! I have vivid dreams all the time - it's interesting to read what others have to say about their dreams too.

  5. I've had some 'end of the world' dreams or 'WWIII' dreams but none of those lately. Congrats to Rebecca! I've been seeing this book around a lot this weekend! Sounds like a cute read:)

    1. Thank you so much, yes the launch on Monday was all about getting the book out there. I totally stole the blog hop idea from Talli ;o)

  6. I rarely dream, thank goodness. I say 'thank goodness' because the ones I remember are horrid.

    Congratulations to Rebecca!

  7. I do have vivid dreams due to my medication, however I do have a recurring dream about my son who no longer speaks to me. I guess it's on my mind even though I say I have accepted the situation.
    Have a lovely day.
    Yvonne.

  8. Oh man, I have all different kind of nightmares. The worst ones are when I dream of my children being hurt or stolen.

  9. I've had some weird dreams, but not scary too often. Mostly, and I like these, are the ones with big houses with unending staircases and secret rooms. The worst dreams are the ones when I have to go to the bathroom and can't find a toilet anywhere.

  10. Hooorah for Rebecca Emin and her very emotional book (I read the blurb over at DJ Kirby's)!! I dream very active dreams - lots of running and driving out of control cars etc! I wake up quite exhausted! Take care

  11. Congratulations to Rebecca!

I dream a lot, but rarely remember them. One recurring dream that I do remember takes place in a huge cavern, with a bonfire at the heart. And I'm sitting around the bonfire with trolls, dragons, knights, and all sorts of other strange critters, and all of us are singing Take Me Out To The Ballgame.

  12. I have a recurring dream I did a lot of quality work for someone that I actually did work for about 15 years ago. In the dream there is a sense of urgency I submit my hours for payment as there is a big payoff waiting for me. Weird.

So I'm going to write out an invoice for all the work in my life I performed and never got paid for. Why not? You never know. With the book promos I have coming up, I'll gladly take payment in the form of sales.

  13. Congratulations, Rebecca!

When I was a child my recurring nightmare was about being chased by monkeys. Now the only recurring 'nightmare' I have is about frantically packing a suitcase and being late to go away somewhere!

    1. Thanks, Rachel! I don't like the sound of that monkey dream!

  14. I don't remember many of my dreams but if I had a recurring dream of drowning, it would be horrific. It's one of my worst fears.

  15. I have a re-occuring nightmare of getting stuck in a pink steep-raked theatre, and have to get across to the other side through the seating before something appears on stage... sounds pathetic but it's terrifying :)

  16. I dream a lot. And remember many. On the nightmare side, the one that recurs most often is of being in a car - either as driver or passenger - that goes too fast around a curve and sails off a bridge or mountainside. I wake up as soon as I'm airborne.

  17. Congrats to Rebecca! When Dreams Come True is a lovely read. I too would hate a recurring dream about drowning - scary! I remember lots of my dreams and they vary in content from family ones where I'll often "see" my mum, as she's no longer here, to terrifying ones of fearsome creatures!

  18. I usually remember my dreams--one recurring theme is malls. Mention a mall to me, and chances are I'll have nightmares about being trapped or chased through the stores. :P I just don't like them.

  19. I do have my fair share of nightmares. Probably the most cruel are when I've been thinking about the day ahead, usually when something important is happening and I'm nervous. My dream will play out the scenario of the day, but everything will go wrong and I wake up totally stressed out.

  20. I have tons of nightmares - always have. Some of them are so vivid I'm not sure whether they're real or not...

  21. My dreams are so out there. I pity anyone who tries to analyze them. *Grins*

  22. Thank goodness you get happy endings in your dreams! I usually wake up in the middle of nightmares, still so panicked that it takes me a while to calm down. Ugh, hate nightmares. :)

  23. Dreams are so strange aren't they?! The dreams I had last night couldn't be told before the watershed... Yes, they were quite racy, lol, and one of them involved a very gorgeous Sean Connery!

  24. I don't have any recurring dreams but I do have some strange ones at times.

I hate the repitive kind of dreams, like recently I dreamt about playing Draw Something all night. Yes, I had become a tad obsessed!

  25. I used to have a recurring dream as a child which was horrible but I haven't had one for years - thank god!

  26. that sounds like a very healthy response to bad dreams, and just as an amateur over here, I bet it means you take charge of bad situations in life and fix them. I can believe that just from the few years we've known each other and watching your novelist career! :D

I do still dream, but I always seem to forget them by morning. And I hate it! I was having the best adventure dream the other night, and I woke up and thought, "That'd probably make a great story!" ... forgot it! :D oh, well~ Have a great week! xoxo

  27. It's gorgeous here too although a little too humid for May. I never complain about sunshine though!

I rarely remember a dream. I did have a very vivid dream recently followed by a real life 'coincidence' that felt a little crazy...I blogged about it here-

  28. That is awesome and powerful that you always make your way out! I dream but don't remember most of them. I used to have scary dreams of people hurting me but this last year, I started standing up for myself in them. It feels great and I think it means my confidence is building. :-) Hope you had a lovely weekend!

  29. I like the sound of Rebecca's book. Congrats and good luck to her on her book launch.
Yes I do dream and I once had a premonition in a dream that involved a scary mask!

  30. Congrats to Rebecca on her book launch! Glad your dreams like your stories, always have a happy ending. I usually don't remember mine, but I do have the recurring nightmare of showing up for a college final to a class I've never gone to before. Julie

    1. Thank you! I have dreams about college too - so weird as I left in 1993.

  31. I dream a lot, and if I wake up at certain hours of the morning I'll remember them all. Had a gorgeous one the other night which was like a story/movie, with a kind of minotaur/beauty and the beast plot. Shiny new idea!

  32. This is amazing, at the mo I am very into dreams and have committed the summer to exploring them creatively with my art! I have been banging on about the project on my own blog. So its really fascinating to read about dreams over here too. Think I will nip over to Rebecca's now & read more.

Your own dream of almost drowning is quite interesting in the fact that you don't drown. That's good. Right!

  33. It was so interesting to read about the dreams people have. It's a shame there are so many nightmares among them. I've had a few of my own. I can remember my dreams most mornings, but it's the nightmares that stick with you for decades isn't it. Talli, once again thank you for joining in with my launch blog hop. You are a star! x
